Biostimulatory scalp injections to boost hair regrowth proteins

We can harness the natural healing power of your own biology to combat thinning hair. By isolating and concentrating high-quality growth factors from your blood, we create a serum of natural and powerful cellular energy. When injected into the follicle root zone, this serum triggers natural repair, halts shedding, and helps restore natural hair density. Our Hair Transplant Doctors are expert in the Regenerative Injection technique.

What are Regenerative Hair Injections?

Regenerative injection therapy is an advanced, autologous (derived from your own body) treatment that utilises a highly concentrated solution of blood platelets to stimulate dormant hair follicles.

Your blood contains microscopic growth factors that are biologically engineered to repair tissue, boost cellular metabolism, and accelerate healing. By drawing a small sample of your blood, spinning it in a specialised clinical centrifuge, and separating the platelet-rich matrix, our doctors create a potent and personalised serum to inject precisely where your scalp needs it most.

  • Angiogenesis Stimulation: Promotes the formation of new blood vessels to maximise follicular nutrition.
  • Follicle Awakening: Signals resting (telogen) hair follicles to re-enter the active growth (anagen) phase.
  • Tissue Rehabilitation: Ideal for improving scalp health and treating complex environments like scar tissue.

Are Regenerative Injections Right for You?

Regenerative injections are an exceptional option for individuals experiencing early-stage hair thinning, diffuse hair loss, or those noticing a widening parting line. It serves as an ultra-pure, natural alternative for patients who prefer to avoid synthetic chemical or energy-based therapies.

Furthermore, it is a crucial clinical tool used by our doctors to prime the scalp prior to an FUE transplant or to significantly accelerate graft healing and survival post-surgery. Your baseline suitability will be confirmed using precise trichoscopic scalp mapping at our central Glasgow clinic.

The Process

01

Preparation

A minor, comfortable blood draw is taken, followed by advanced high-speed centrifugal separation.

02

Extraction

Isolation of the ultra-pure growth factor matrix, discarding poor plasma layers.

03

Injection

Micro-injection of the active regenerative serum by hand across targeted thinning zones.

04

Activation

Immediate return to daily activities with a tailored post-therapy scalp protocol.

The procedure

On the day of your treatment at our Glasgow clinic, a small volume of blood is drawn and processed in a medical centrifuge to separate and concentrate the therapeutic platelets. Then our surgeon, using ultra-fine micro-needles, injects the nutrient-dense serum into the dermal layer where your hair roots reside.

The procedure takes approximately 45 to 60 minutes. Because we use advanced micro-injection techniques and comfortable local chilling methods, patients can expect minimal discomfort.

Recovery and results

There is absolutely no down-time associated with regenerative injections; you can walk out of our clinic and return to desk work or daily routines immediately. You may experience mild scalp tenderness or minor pinkness for 24 to 48 hours, which resolves completely naturally.

Because cell-mediated restoration relies on natural biological cycles, initial improvements in hair shedding stabilisation are seen after 2 to 3 sessions, with optimal increases in hair density and structural thickness manifesting at the 6 to 9-month mark.

“Regenerative injection therapy allows us to turn your body’s own natural healing mechanism directly onto failing hair roots. By placing these ultra-concentrated growth factors precisely within the dermal layer, we revive dormant follicles and significantly improve the density and volume of thinning hair without synthetic downfalls”

Frequently Asked Questions

Most patients find the procedure remarkably comfortable. We utilise ultra-fine, medical-grade micro-needles specifically designed for delicate skin surfaces, alongside localised cooling techniques to numb the scalp during injection. You will feel a light pinching or pressure sensation across the targeted areas, but actual sharp pain is minimal. Any mild post-procedure tightness or tenderness disappears within a day or two.

While individual biological responses vary based on your level of follicle miniaturisation, our standard, evidence-based protocol consists of an initial course of 3 to 4 sessions, spaced roughly 4 weeks apart. This initial phase builds the cellular foundation for hair follicle repair. To maintain optimal blood flow and follicular density over the long term, we generally recommend a single maintenance session every 6 to 12 months.

No, the risk of an allergic reaction or rejection is virtually non-existent. Because the therapeutic serum is autologous—meaning it is formulated entirely from your own blood sample—your body recognises the fluid naturally. There are no synthetic chemicals, foreign additives, or pharmaceutical drugs introduced during this specific procedure, making it one of the safest treatments available in modern clinical hair restoration.

Yes, this is one of its most high-value clinical applications. Scar tissue has a significantly reduced blood supply, which makes it tough, fibrous, and unable to naturally support hair. Injecting concentrated growth factors directly into old FUT linear scars or patchy FUE donor zones stimulates angiogenesis (the generation of new capillaries). This revives the tissue’s vascularity, making it significantly healthier and preparing the “soil” perfectly if you plan to undergo an incisional scar camouflage hair transplant.

We recommend waiting at least 24 hours after your injection session before washing your hair or applying any topical products to your scalp. This short window ensures that the micro-injection points have fully closed and settled cleanly, minimising any risk of surface irritation. You should also avoid strenuous exercise, steam rooms, and saunas for 48 hours post-procedure.
