What is an eyebrow restoration?
An eyebrow transplant is a permanent, micro-surgical restoration procedure designed to address thinning, patchy, or completely missing eyebrows.
Unlike temporary cosmetic solutions like microblading, tattooing, or makeup, an eyebrow transplant involves taking live, permanent hair follicles from a donor area (typically the back of the scalp) and transplanting them directly into the brow region. Once healed, these follicles grow natural, live hair for a lifetime
Are you a suitable candidate?
If you are looking to restore density, reshape sparse arches or recreate missing eyebrows entirely, then you’re a suitable candidate. Eyebrow loss or thinning can result from over-plucking, trauma, burns, medical conditions (such as thyroid imbalances), or natural aging. Essential requirements for a successful procedure include:
- Healthy Donor Hair: Adequate single-hair follicles available—typically harvested from the back of the head or behind the ear—that closely match your natural eyebrow texture and hair calibre.
- Stable Underlying Skin: Healthy, intact skin across the brow ridge that is free from active dermatological conditions or unhealed scar tissue.
- Realistic Expectations: An understanding that because transplanted scalp hair retains its original growth properties, regular trimming and light grooming will be required.
During your private consultation at our Glasgow clinic, our doctors will evaluate your brow anatomy, assess your skin health, and hand-design a bespoke brow frame tailored to your facial proportions.

Elscott Medical Approach
First we evaluate your brow anatomy, assess your skin health, and hand-design a bespoke brow frame tailored to your facial proportions.
Eyebrow transplantation is a delicate fusion of micro-surgical precision and facial artistry. Unlike scalp hair, eyebrows grow at an extremely flat angle against the skin, feature delicate single-hair structures, and grow in intricate, fan-like directional patterns. We do not use rigid, stenciled designs. Every eyebrow contour is customised to align with your natural bone structure, facial symmetry, and aesthetic preferences.
Using advanced, single-follicle micro-FUE harvesting techniques, our surgeons meticulously isolate fine, soft hairs from the donor zone that mimic natural eyebrow strands.
The procedure
On the day of your procedure at our Glasgow clinic, your doctor draws and finalises your new eyebrow outline. Under gentle local anaesthetic, healthy single-hair follicles are harvested from a discrete donor zone at the back of the head or behind the ear using refined micro-FUE punches. The extracted grafts are then carefully sorted under high-power microscopy to isolate ultra-fine single hairs.
Using specialised, ultra-fine implanter blades or needles, your surgeon creates microscopic recipient sites along the brow area at exceptionally flat angles (often as low as 10 to 15 degrees). Each single graft is hand-implanted into these sites, carefully following the natural directional flow. The procedure typically takes between three to five hours, during which you remain comfortable, awake, and relaxed.
Recovery and results
Initial healing is rapid, with most patients returning to non-strenuous daily activities within 3 to 5 days. Mild swelling and tiny micro-crusts will form around each implanted brow hair, flaking off naturally within the first week as the delicate skin settles. You will receive a bespoke post-procedure care kit and direct guidance from your surgical team to keep the area clean and protected during the initial healing window.
The transplanted eyebrow hairs will naturally shed within two to four weeks post-procedure—a standard biological reset phase. Brand-new, permanent eyebrow growth begins to emerge around month three, steadily increasing in density and coverage over the following months. By 10 to 12 months, your full, mature results are achieved, revealing beautifully shaped, natural eyebrows that frame your eyes and enhance your facial expressions.

“Eyebrow transplantation requires an exceptional level of artistic judgment. Because eyebrow hairs sit at such a flat angle against the face and flow in distinct directional sweeps, every single follicle must be placed with millimeter precision. When done correctly, the result is completely indistinguishable from natural brow hair.”

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. Because the hair follicles are harvested from your scalp donor zone, they retain their genetic memory and will continue to grow at the same rate as scalp hair. This means that unlike native eyebrow hairs, which naturally stop growing at a short length, your transplanted eyebrow hairs will need to be lightly trimmed and maintained every one to two weeks using small cosmetic scissors to keep them at your preferred length.
Natural eyebrows consist strictly of individual, single-hair strands—never multi-hair groupings. Our team carefully dissects all harvested donor grafts under high-magnification microscopy to isolate only the finest single-hair units. Furthermore, by using incisions that lie almost flush with the skin (matching the natural 10-to-15-degree angle of eyebrow growth) and following the natural fan-like directional sweep of your brow, we ensure the hairs lay completely flat and soft, avoiding any harsh or “pluggy” appearance.
An eyebrow transplant is a permanent surgical procedure using your own living hair follicles, whereas microblading is a semi-permanent cosmetic tattoo that deposits pigment into the superficial skin layer. While microblading creates a flat, two-dimensional illusion of hair that fades every 12 to 18 months and requires regular touch-ups, an eyebrow transplant creates genuine 3D texture, natural depth, and permanent hair growth that lasts a lifetime.
Initial healing for most patients take 3 to 5 days, and by 10 to 12 months your full, mature results are achieved.
Prices very depending on the specifics of each case but, in general, Eyebrow Restoration costs between £3,000 and £4,000.
